SEASON OF CATCH

Yellowish brown or fairly light pinkish. with a black spot on the pectoral axil.

Dorsal fins are practically joined, whereas aonly a small space separates the anal fins. The upper jaw is much longer than the lower. The edge of the caudal fin is slightly forked.

c) On ice

Erratic, gregarious, benthonic, at depths of 25 to 40 0m. Lives on banks near the bottom or in open sea.

Feeds off crustaceans and molluscs. Large specimen also catch small fish.

Caught with fishing line, pots, driftnet and occasionally, trawling.

European coastline. Western Mediterranean.
