SEASON OF CATCH

A slim shark with a grey chestnut colour and some triangular -shaped teeth. Narrow, rounded snout at the tip. Body may measure up to two metres. Oval-shaped eyes and rounded tail. Feeds off bottom and midwater living fish.

Gestation period of almost one year, producing litters of 25 to 40 individuals.

From 15 to 20 kg/piece
from 20 to 25 kg/piece
from 25 to 30 kg/piece
from 30 to 35 kg/piece
from 35 to 40 kg/piece

Preparation and packing:
a) Whole with head-on and gutted.
b) Packed in individual bag and boxed.

Lives from 40 to 300 metres depth. Very abundant off the Galician coastline, although the majority of catches are for the export market. In any case, consumption in Galicia is increasing conderably.
